New GABA Brown Rice Cycle: GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is a nutrient in brown rice that researchers say lowers blood pressure and relieves stress. The Zojirushi NH-VBC rice cooker offers a special cycle that activates the GABA in brown rice, increasing it to 150% of the level in nonactivated rice. |

Why I Love My Rice Cooker! Whenever we do a workshop/seminar, I always like to tell people why I couldn't live without my rice cooker. I purchased my first Zojirushi Rice Cooker over 15 years ago, and of course made rice in it. But, because of running a home business, and being on the road alot, I decided to figure out other ways to use my rice cooker. One day, when I had started frying some ground turkey, and left to answer the phone, I came back later to the smell of burnt meat. From that day forward, I pulled out my rice cooker and experimented with various foods. The first thing I found out I could use the rice cooker for was to brown hamburger perfectly, even large amounts, without ever again burning it. What a great time saver that was to me. Next, I tried to make hamburger helper in it, and viola, it turned out perfectly also. From there, I experimented with whole grain cereals, all kinds of soups, my favorite wild rice soup, bean soups, tapicoa pudding, mac and cheese, heating up hotdogs, cooked chicken and a number of other things besides. What I found is that the rice cooker is a FAST COOKER, for a number of foods. I can cook a ONE POT MEAL in it, and I'm sure we haven't even touched everything that could be done in it yet. Whenever we travel, I packed up my rice cooker, and bring foods that I can easily cook in a hotel room for hot meals. It's not uncommon for me to use it every single day, and sometimes twice a day. My original Zojirushi rice cooker was in full time use for over 14 years, before I purchased a new one, not because it didn't work, but because it was so dented up from traveling and demonstrating in at our seminars, that I felt I should take a newer one to show. The Zojirushi Rice Cookers are an OUTSTANDING VALUE - for saving time, saving energy, saving heating up a kitchen in the summer time, and for making clean up a breeze. The hardest part is choosing which Zojirushi rice cooker you want. One tip - don't purchase a cheap model. Zojirushi is the top of the line and worth the price. |

How to Cook Brown Rice and Wild Rice There are many varieties of brown rice, but they all have one thing in common, the grains are not hulled and polished so the nutritious outer bran layer remains intact, hence the tan color of this rice. The higher fiber content of brown rice also gives it a distinctive nutty flavor and chewy texture. Your Zojirushi rice cooker will cook brown rice so easily and perfectly that you’ll want to serve it everyday. Note: Brown rice requires a little more
water than white rice. To cook brown rice it is recommended to use 1-1/2
to 2 times the amount of water to rice, unless your rice cooker includes
a brown rice function. (NOTE: You must use the plastic measuring cup
that comes with your rice cooker to measure both the raw rice and the
water.) Please refer to your operating instruction to see if your rice
cooker has a brown rice function. For those models without a brown rice
function, if you use 2 cups (using the rice cooker’s measuring cup) of
raw brown rice, fill the pan with 3-4 cups (use the rice cooker’s
measuring cup) of water (make adjustments to your preference). We also
recommend soaking brown rice for 30 minutes before cooking. Note: For a
softer textured brown rice, use the larger quantity of water. 3. Wipe off any excess water from the
outside of the inner cooking pan and place in the Main Body of the rice
cooker. Close the lid securely, plug in the rice cooker and press the
cooking switch to start. |
